A bar of soap turns to mush when it sits in its own water. These two-part dishes fix that: the top layer is slotted, the bottom is a catch basin, and the water that runs off ends up in the tray rather than on the counter.
The slats are wide enough for residue as well as water to drop through, so the bar dries between uses and lasts noticeably longer. Cleaning is a matter of separating the two halves and rinsing them under the tap, or sending them through the top rack of the dishwasher.
