It is cut from 0.12 inch acrylic, thick enough to stand against heavy books, files, cookbooks, magazines, vinyl records and DVDs rather than bowing under them. Four pads are supplied to stick to the base: they add grip so the bookend does not slide across a polished shelf, and they protect the surface underneath from scratches.
